1977: Graduated Bachelor of Engineering, from the University of NSW Civil & Structural Engineer.
1978: Research for The School of Civil Engineering, University of NSW into Factors Affecting Modern Heavy Duty Blast Hole Rock Drills.
1979-1981: Site Engineer for Civil Engineering Firm, CTK Engineering Pty Ltd at Wauchope, NSW, building highway bridges, roads, subdivisions, sewer and drainage structures and operating hard rock quarry.
1981-1983: Design Engineer employed by Terry Gould, Consulting Engineer, Port Macquarie.
1983: Admitted as member of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
1983-present: Principal Alan Taylor & Associates, Consulting Engineers. Design of steel, timber and concrete structures in residential commercial and industrial projects. Project management, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.
1986: Admitted as Graded (III) Arbitrator with Institute of Arbitrators Australia.
1988: Admitted as Member of College of Civil Engineers, of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
1990: Admitted as Building Referee for Department of Consumer Affairs, Consumer Claims Tribunal – Building Disputes Tribunal.
1994: Accepted as NPER -3, National Professional Engineers Register within The Institution of Engineers, Australia practicing consultant, actively engaged and fulfilling the Institution’s continuing education requirements.
1995: Completed and admitted as Mediator and member of LEADR – Lawyers Engaged in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
1997: Admitted as Member of College of Structural Engineers, of The Institution of Engineers, Australia.
2000: Retired as Member – Building Referee from Department of Fair Trading (formerly Department Consumer Affairs)
2000: Admitted as Advanced LEADR Mediator

Arbitration Experience: some 20 Arbitrations from nominations by Institute of Arbitrators or solicitors for Arbitrations in accordance with Commercial Arbitration Act. Some 1200 Building Disputes arbitrated for the Building Disputes Tribunal for awards up to $25,000. Some claims in excess of $100,000. Adversary work for solicitors and clients. Mediation Chaired some 40 mediations, primarily in building some involved with personnel and work relations. Some 20 Mediations for NSW Government “Strata Mediation Division”
