I have been working as a consultant in Sydney for a number of social enterprises and social change organisations. I have has twenty years experience working as Director and CEO of a number of social development NGOs, social enterprises, and community sector organisations. While the focus of my recent work has been on renewable energy and sustainability, I have also worked on urban renewal and regeneration initiatives for a number of years, in a variety of capacities, ranging from operations and communications to the design, development and implementation of national-level social and economic programs.

Examples of this work include: the design and implementation of Black Net Solutions, an online infrastructure support network for UK civil society and social action organisations; leading an infrastructure partnership (Voice for Change) to support the modernisation of UK third sector agencies; and leading the development of an award-winning South West Regional equality Compact a policy that now operates across local, regional and national government. As the CEO of BSWN I was responsible for the organisation’s overall governance including compliance with statutory regulations and for articulating and developing and implementing a strategic vision and plan that responded to the UK Government’s Third Sector Modernisation Program. I developed organisational policies and cultivated management relationships at ministerial, senior civil service and third Sector CEO levels. I was responsible for overseeing the delivery of services and contracts, staff management, organisational development, fundraising, business and knowledge management systems, internal and external training services and the development of enterprise revenue streams. I have been an invited representative on a range of NGO and public agency boards, providing strategic advice, networking and developing productive relationships between community, government and business.

This position involved providing civic challenge and leadership on the development and implementation of renewal programs that would support sustainable development within a community of 30,000 residents. This role involved: organisational and financial planning, the development of organisation-wide management policies, the preparation of budgets, grant applications, the maintenance of sound financial practices, the supervision of 35 full and part-time staff
